Launching a New Field Site: Our Team’s First Visit to Annobón
Members of our lab recently traveled to Annobón, Equatorial Guinea for an initial visit to a new field site as part of the University of California Malaria Initiative (UCMI). The team—including our Dr. Greg Lanzaro, Dr. Anton Cornel, and Ivan Mugeni—joined UCMI contractor, Maria Maciel Corrêa, to begin on-the-ground activities and assess the site for future work.
During the trip, the team conducted preliminary mosquito collections and scouted locations for ongoing sampling. As the first visit to this site for the project, the trip focused on understanding local conditions and laying the groundwork for future field efforts.
This visit marks the start of a new field site and partnership in a new country. You can read more about this work here: https://stopmalaria.org/building-momentum-in-annobon-a-closer-look-at-ucmis-latest-field-work/
