New UCMI Publication: Mark-Release-Recapture in São Tomé and Príncipe

This study represents the culmination of several years of work beginning in 2021, bringing together field, laboratory, and analytical efforts to better understand mosquito populations and the factors that shape their ecology and public health importance. Research like this is critical, as mosquitoes remain key vectors of diseases that continue to impact communities worldwide.

The project involved extensive mosquito and data collection and collaboration across teams, reflecting the kind of sustained, coordinated effort required to generate meaningful insights in vector biology. From early planning and fieldwork to analysis and publication, this work highlights the importance of long-term investment in research infrastructure and partnerships.

We are incredibly grateful to the many people who contributed to this project over the years—field teams, laboratory staff, students, collaborators, and partners—whose dedication made this work possible. Projects of this scale depend on the persistence, expertise, and teamwork of a wide community.
